Would you like a tree planted in the parkway in front of your home? The County of Los Angeles Public Works can assist you with that, at no charge! To request a tree planting, just click the button below and fill out the form on LA County Public Works website.
Upon completion you will be responsible for watering the tree after it’s planted and the tree will not be replaced if it dies due to lack of care or vandalism.
Here are the following conditions:
- Spacing: Trees shall be spaced approximately 50 feet apart.
- Minimum Clearence:
- 50 feet from the beginning of the curb radius on the approach to an intersection.
- 15 feet from the beginning of the curb radius on the exit side.
- 20 feet from light standards
- 10 feet from fire hydrants and driveways
- 5 feet from house walks and utility meters
- 3 foot parkway width
- Planting area free of utility or sprinkler lines
- Trees will be planted based on funding availability.

A parkway tree is a tree that is typically planted by Public Works or a developer who built the home or building, adjacent to the edge of roadway within the County’s right of way. Los Angeles County cares for and maintains over 170,000 parkway trees located throughout the County’s unincorporated area along more than 3,200 miles of roadways.
